How did you end up going into your current role or field and what do you enjoy most about the work you do?
I came to my current role at SSU thanks to the guidance and encouragement of mentors and former supervisors who saw my strengths–my creativity, my ability to build meaningful connections, and my dedication to making an impact. I was fortunate to have a network of supporters who believed in me and gave me the opportunity to grow. What I love most about my work is fostering connections–bridging students, donors, and alumni who are committed to making a difference. Witnessing the impact of these connections in individual lives is truly powerful. Working alongside donors and alumni who are passionate about paying it forward is not just inspiring–it’s a constant reminder of the incredible effect generosity and engagement can have.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the Sonoma State community?
My favorite part of working at SSU is the people and the meaningful connections I get to build every day. Our campus is filled with incredibly creative, intelligent, and kind individuals who make SSU a vibrant and inspiring place. I make it a point to walk around campus to say hello to people—because it’s the people who truly shape our community and make it what it is. Their dedication, talent, and passion are what bring our campus to life.
What do you find most fulfilling about working in higher education?
From welcoming students as they take their first steps on campus to cheering them on as they cross the stage at commencement, every moment is a testament to growth and perseverance. Witnessing our alumni give back, supporting the next generation, is inspiring. Their generosity and commitment to paying it forward strengthens our entire community. This is what fuels me and fills my cup.
In what ways does your work make an impact on students, the campus or the broader campus community?
The work I do is all about building meaningful connections—bringing together students, alumni, donors, and community members in ways that foster engagement and lasting relationships with Sonoma State. Alumni and donors contribute in various ways, whether by giving their time, sharing their expertise, or providing philanthropic support for causes that matter to them. Our efforts create diverse and impactful opportunities for them to stay connected, and remain an integral part of the SSU community.
