Do you know an SSU student, faculty member, staff member, or alum who embodies the spirit of Sonoma State? Now’s your chance to nominate them for the 2026 Faces of SSU!

We’re calling on you to nominate classmates, colleagues, friends, or even yourself! Together, we can highlight the depth and diversity of our community, showcasing that each of us has a unique path and SSU story, yet all are connected by a common thread.

Nominations

For 13 years, the Faces of SSU campaign has celebrated the remarkable individuals who make our Sonoma State community so special. From inspiring leaders and dedicated collaborators to those who go above and beyond in service of our shared mission, Faces of SSU honors those whose unique stories, experiences, and contributions reflect the Sonoma State community. 

Nomination Process

Alumni Evaluation Criteria

To be considered as a Face of SSU, alumni nominees must:

  • Be an SSU graduate
  • Be willing and interested in sharing their story (if interest isn’t confirmed at the time of nomination, we will follow up with the nominee directly)
  • Have demonstrated involvement on campus as a student or be making a positive impact in their community today
Evaluation Areas

Alumni nominees are reviewed across four key areas:

  1. Campus Involvement
    The nominee’s engagement as a student, including leadership in governance, organizations, campus services, athletics, or academic departments.
  2. Professional and/or Community Contributions
    The nominee’s positive impact in their professional field and/or community, with recognition of efforts that benefit others.
  3. SSU’s Impact on Their Journey
    How the nominee describes the role SSU played in shaping their life, career, relationships, and personal growth, including meaningful memories or transformative experiences.
  4. Advice for Current/Future Students
    The relevance and insightfulness of the nominee’s advice for students navigating academic, professional, and personal paths, grounded in their own experiences.

Faculty/Staff/MPP Evaluation Criteria

To be considered as a Face of SSU, employee nominees must:

  • Be an active SSU employee (staff, faculty, or MPP) during Fall 2026
  • Be willing to share their story (nominees will be contacted directly to confirm interest)
  • Be in good standing with the university
  • Be making meaningful contributions to campus culture and the student experience
Evaluation Areas

Employee nominees are reviewed across the following key areas:

  1. Campus Contributions
    How the nominee enriches campus culture and supports a positive work environment, such as through committee service, special roles, or initiatives that strengthen internal partnerships.
  2. Support for Students
    How the nominee contributes to a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for students, either through direct engagement or by creating the conditions that allow students to thrive. This may include providing excellent service, maintaining safe and inviting spaces, supporting campus operations that enable student success, or modeling care and respect in ways that positively influence the student experience.
  3. Community Spirit
    How the nominee exemplifies Seawolf spirit in their daily work, fostering collaboration, inclusivity, and pride in the Sonoma State community.

Student Evaluation Criteria

To be considered as a Face of SSU, student nominees must:

  • Be an active member of the SSU community during Fall 2026
  • Be willing to share their story (nominees will be contacted directly to confirm interest)
  • Be or have been involved on campus through clubs, organizations, departments, athletics, or student employment
  • Be in good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher) and in good conduct standing with the university
Evaluation Areas

Student nominees are reviewed across the following key areas:

  1. Campus Involvement
    The nominee’s engagement in campus life, including clubs, organizations, athletics, departments, or student jobs.
  2. Seawolf Spirit
    How the nominee demonstrates pride in being part of SSU and helps foster a sense of belonging within the community.
  3. Personal Growth & Impact
    Ways the nominee has grown through their SSU experience and the positive impact they’ve had on peers or the campus community.
