What is your favorite memory or experience at SSU?

My favorite experience at SSU would be working as a Summer Bridge Leader. Having the opportunity to support incoming first-generation students, and Seawolf Scholars specifically, proved to be a deeply fulfilling experience that reinforced my passion for supporting others.

What has been the most challenging part of your college experience and what did you learn from it?

The most challenging aspect of my college experience was adapting to a new way of life as a first-generation student. Trying to manage college courses, providing for myself, and moving over 200 miles away pushed me outside my comfort zone. Although it was difficult, it reminded me of my resilience and strong independence.

What brought you to SSU, and what motivates you to stay?

After learning that both my foster parents attended SSU, I knew it was the path I wanted to take. Sonoma State offered such a comforting and enriching environment that there were no second thoughts about which school I was to attend.

Who at SSU has influenced you and/or made an impact on your journey here?

Aside from the amazing connections I've made that started as friendships and turned into family, there is one person in particular who has been with me every step of the way: Stacie Rodriguez-Fitch, my Seawolf Scholars advisor. Stacie not only guided me through my academic and career goals, but also through personal goals. She has always supported me and encouraged me to strive for more. I am forever grateful for her and all she has taught me.
