What is your current position and/or the industry you work in?

I am a Service Coordinator for North Bay Regional Center. In this position, I am a case manager for children and adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. I absolutely adore the field I work in and the people I get to work with. My education at Sonoma State has helped me to better serve and understand my clients.

What were your campus involvements at SSU?

While at SSU, I was a part of the Board of Directors for Psy Chi, so I helped plan psychology-related educational events for students to further their knowledge outside of their classes. I was also a Community Connections Coordinator for Associated Students, with one of my largest projects being Disability Awareness Week in 2023, ending with a basketball tournament where we collaborated with Special Olympics Northern California. I was also a member of SSU’s Chambers Choir for the entirety of my time at SSU, which was a wonderful experience. As far as clubs, I was a member of  Queer-Straight Alliance (QSA), getting to enjoy three Queer Proms in my time at SSU. Whenever I had spare time, I would volunteer as an event driver for Student Involvement events, which created many fond memories.

Why did you choose to attend SSU?

After looking at many colleges, I decided on SSU due to the small campus and great student-to-professor ratio. Sonoma State has a wonderful psychology department and I loved being able to chat and make connections with my professors and peers.

How has Sonoma State made an impact on your life today?

Sonoma State has left me with lifelong friends and memories. I attended events frequently, and they gave me the chance to get to know so many wonderful people. To this day, I still keep in contact with amazing professors, kind friends, and of course the love of my life and now my wife, who I met in the Sonoma State Student Center.

What advice would you give to a current student or recent graduate?

Attend as many campus events as you can – they are so fun, and you’ll meet some of the kindest people. Also, don’t be afraid to chat with your professors. They are very knowledgeable and down to earth.
