What is your favorite memory or experience at SSU?
My favorite memory at SSU was when my aunt and mom dropped me off. The journey to my first day at college after the pandemic was interesting. From moving back to California, and then getting lost on the way here, it was basically an adventure. Although this was the day when my aunt and mother left me to venture out into this new world, they made sure I was in good hands!
What has been the most challenging part of your college experience and what did you learn from it?
I have faced the most challenges when dealing with imposter syndrome. The feelings of "How did I get here?" and "Why haven't I achieved this goal yet?" would come and go as I faced new things. I am still facing these challenges, but now I remind myself that I am a college student. It’s OK not to know, and failure brings you closer to the finish line than not trying. My faith and community also helped push me through!
What brought you to SSU, and what motivates you to stay?
I came to SSU because of its beautiful campus and wonderful support. It is also in the perfect location – not too close to home, and not too far away either.
Who at SSU has influenced you and/or made a difference in your journey here?
There are too many to count — faculty, advisors, family, and friends. I especially remember how Andre Bailey and Dr. Gerald Jones were the first people to meet my aunt and mother and reassure them of my time here.
