Why did you choose SSU?

I have always been a free spirit and growing up in Southern California I wanted to travel and explore a new part of the state. I never imagined the impact and magic SSU would have on me as a scholar, professional, and activist. Sonoma State has shaped every part of my advocacy, self-love, and life trajectory.

What is one piece of advice you'd give your college self today?

Remember the power of your skills, talents, knowledge, and story. Be kind to yourself during tumultuous times, rest, ask for support when you need it, and give yourself permission to claim your dreams. Also, if I could go back in time, I would leap at the opportunity to study abroad and travel more.

What does life look like now after graduating from SSU?

I currently live in San Jose and lead Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging training, policies, and initiatives to support belonging for staff. In my free time, I love to dance, perform as a Drag King, and engage in LGBTQ+, racial justice, and gender-based activism as a spoken word poet. I am so grateful to be just a drive away from my best friends, whom I met at SSU. We love paddle boarding, cooking, and binge-watching reality tv shows.

What are your campus involvements?

I loved my time with the HUB Cultural Center, Vagina Monologues, Associated Students Government, Summer Bridge, Summer Orientation, Recreation Center, MOSAIC Advisor, EOP (Equal Opportunity Program), and CALS (Chicano and Latino Studies), peer mentorship programs
