How has Sonoma State made an impact in your life today?
SSU gave me the foundation of how to learn and grow. After SSU, I went to graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison before leaving with my Master's to work in healthcare IT. The leadership skills I learned while at SSU have proven invaluable in my day-to-day work. From how to work well with other people who are different from me, to how to organize a project and major event. My work would be much harder today without those key skills learned while attending SSU.
What advice would you give to a current student or recent graduate?
Follow the things you love doing and you will find the right path.
I followed science because I wanted to help cancer patients, but then I figured out Biological Research was not what I enjoyed. In healthcare IT, I am still helping patients, but I am focused on project management of the software that helps care for the patients which I love. Same goal, just a different way of achieving it by focusing on what I love doing.
