What is your favorite memory or experience at SSU?

I think my favorite memory at SSU was when I was a second year and during RA training, my first year as an RA. I think this was one of the most memorable experiences as a student because I was surrounded by such a great group of friends. I was able to meet these wonderful people, and they made me so happy that I chose to be at SSU. They are a huge reason why I worked so hard to be at SSU. I felt so included, and being involved on campus as a leader was something really special, and having such wonderful friends who reflected me was something super special.

What has been the most challenging part of your college experience and what did you learn from it?

I had a choice between leaving my friends and all of the things I built at SSU for Nursing school somewhere else. I decided to stay an extra year and go for one of the 24 slots that we have available. I think this was one of the hardest things I did because I really had no idea what was going to happen. I was not ready or willing to leave SSU, though, and it allowed me to learn how much you can do when you put your mind to it. I worked hard just so I could stay at SSU, and I’m grateful to have had so many wonderful opportunities here.

What brought you to SSU, and what motivates you to stay?

The thing that brought me to SSU was the beauty and how it felt so small and personal. The teachers and classes felt very personal, and I was able to meet and talk to a lot of my own professors and people around me. The thing that motivates me to stay the most is the opportunities I've been given at SSU. I’ve been very lucky and blessed to be able to be an RA and be involved in Greek life on campus. I’ve met so many kind and wonderful people who have lifted me and gotten me to the place I am today, and I cannot be more grateful for them.

Who at SSU has influenced you and/or made an impact on your journey here?

One person who really impacted me throughout my journey at SSU is an RA named Mia. She was someone that I really looked up to; she was genuinely kind and… She helped me through some of the hardest times in my life. She was always there for me if I needed anything.
