What is your current position and/or the industry you work in?
I’m a Training Coordinator at The Trevor Project, the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ young people. I work with and train the folks (volunteers, staff, contractors, and practicum students) who will be working on one of our Lifelines.
What were your campus involvements at SSU?
I was a promoter for the Preparando Hispanic Estudiantes Realizando Their Ambitions (PUERTA) Project at Sonoma State University, where I had the opportunity to support and empower fellow students through mentorship and community engagement.
How has Sonoma State made an impact in your life today?
Sonoma State University has had a lasting impact on my life, not just as the place where I earned my education, but as a community that shaped me into who I am today. From cherished traditions like Big Nite to quick bites at Lobo’s, SSU gave me opportunities to grow, build lifelong connections, and felt like home every step of the way.
What advice would you give to a current student or recent graduate?
Take every opportunity to get involved and connect with your community, it’s where some of the best memories and growth happen. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone, ask for help when you need it, and trust that it’s okay to not have everything figured out yet. Your journey is uniquely yours, so take your time, explore your passions, and most importantly… enjoy the ride.
